He always talks to us when he sees us. He does not like to be held, but he does like to be groomed and petted. There have never been any issues with him getting along with the other cats. We have tried to find his family from Louisiana to no avail. This little guy is going to make someone a best, best friend.

Our sweet Sweetness was abandoned at a burned out home. She was expecting kittens at the time. We brought her here to the ranch and she and her sister had a total of 7 kittens. They took turns nursing each others kittens. It was the sweetest interaction to watch. Sweetness has been spayed and she is negative for Feline Leukemia and HIV.

Sweetness does not have a mean bone in her body. She is all sweet. Allergies do bother her, but 1/2 of a Chlorpheneramine tablet during allergy seasons (purchased at a very reasonable price at WalMart) keep the allergies under control. Sweetness has sat in our laps for 30-45 minutes at a time, not curled up like a cat, but sitting up with her back against our chest while we visit with friends. Our friends say it is like having a kid wanting to be at the grown up table. This beautiful girl could stand to lose a couple of pounds. We leave free choice food out because we have so many cats to feed. If Sweetness were fed twice daily only, she would no doubt slender down quickly. She is very laid back and gets along well with all of the other crazy cats here at The Ranch. We have fallen in love with her and of course wish we could keep her forever. But again, we know that she would like to have a human of her own so that she does not have to share the attention with the others. Come visit us and let Sweetness touch noses with you.
They had been born outside and were not in the best of health. They had to stay quarantined for almost three months. But, they are very healthy now. As you will see from the picture, Peepers is a very relaxed kitty. He will let you hold him any old way you want. He is just like a wet noodle. He likes to ride on your shoulders and you can drape him around your neck as well. Peepers is an alpha-cat. He does not need to be in a home with other cats. He does love his humans though and he is very well behaved.

Peepers has some issues with gingivitis. We add powdered L-Lysine to his dry food and it keeps any problems at bay. He does not shed much and loves to be brushed. He will come running to you when you call his name and is always very happy to see his people. Make Peepers your one and only and he will make you his.
She had been chased away from a construction site and had carried her four kittens over to the daycare center and was living under a metal building storage unit. Her kittens all found loving homes and now its Misty’s turn. We have never seen her claw at anything. We checked just to make sure she had claws. She is very well mannered and gets along with all of the other cats that come in and out of the house. We have tried taking her out to the corral for some tree climbing and exercising but it stresses her out too much. She is very content staying in the house and lounging. Misty does not like to be held, but she will let you stroke her and rub her belly and always rubs your ankles when she walks by. She is a most loving creature. We haven’t heard her talk much. She is very quiet and a wee bit shy. Misty comes running when you call her name, and she knows the words “who wants a snack?”. You can see by the pictures that she is very beautiful. Misty deserves to have a family to call her own.

We have had a lot of kittens walk through these doors, but we have never had two kittens (that aren’t even litter mates) become so enamored of each other. Just sit back and watch the show. They absolutely love each other.

Lockhart , the swirl tabby,is very outgoing and talkative. He will let you carry him forever. I think he would stop walking entirely if someone would carry him everywhere. He is a snuggler. Little Lockhart was sitting on the side of Hiway 183 near Lockhart during a scorching 105 degree afternoon. We are guessing that he went out for a walk and became so hot that he could not walk anymore. He was panting very hard and we had to cool him down with bottled water. He did not mind at all.

Gorgeous George, the beautiful long hair orange and white boy has just as great a personality, only he is much more refined in his actions. That is until he and Lockhart start playing. It is the best entertainment you can find. Both of these kids know their names.
Gorgeous was abandoned at the end of the UT school year in the summer of 2006. He was wandering the streets looking for food. Gorgeous likes to sleep under the covers and loves to be brushed. It will be very hard to see these two kids leave the ranch. But, we know that somewhere out there is someone or a family wanting to share the good life with two very deserving kittys.
She was thin, dirty and did not have a clean, warm or even a dry place to sit. Since her arrival at The Ranch she has gained weight and is healthy and happy. Fluffy is shy and quiet and has the cutest little squeaky voice. She is very loyal to the human that is caring for her and will make someone a very happy lap cat. Fluffy does not bother other cats, but we think she would prefer being in a one cat household. She likes humans more than she likes other cats. Please come out to The Ranch and see how beautiful she is in person (or is that in cat?). Fluffy is in her bed each morning waiting for her breakfast to be served to her. She sits up and stretches and starts to nibble. It is the cutest thing you have ever seen.

John jumped the fence and grabbed this little torti girl. She was so little and scared and hungry. We were picking dewberries that day so I wrapped her up in a piece of fabric and tied the fabric around my shoulder and she hung there on my chest for the rest of the day while we picked berries. She slept so hard. I’m sure it was the first time in her life that she could sleep and not be afraid of something getting her.

On Monday morning, John was leaving for work at 6:30; it was still dark. As he stepped out onto the front porch, he called to me to get a towel (I know what that means now). The torti’s little sister was eating out of the bowl that we have on the front porch for the feral kitty. John picked that little girl up and she was just as scared and hungry as her sister had been two days earlier. Â

Both of these little girls had ringworm and internal parasites. But other than those two ailments and being underweight, they were in good health and rebounded quickly. We named them Half-n-Half and GeeGee (for Gray Girl). We quickly determined that these two were not going to be easy to find homes for. They were just barely on the tame side of feral. Neither of them liked to be held and they prefer the company of other cats much more so than that of us humans. Both girls are still with us. GeeGee rarely talks, but Halfy gets to playing by herself each morning and has the best squeaky voice we have ever heard.   We are of the opinion that our feral, The Gray Ghost, is the dad of these two. He and GeeGee have the same face. And when The Ghost comes up at night to eat, GeeGee and Halfy are the only two cats in the house that start pawing at the glass door.
We think they remember him.
